THE WIESLER WAY.

There are many hotels around the world with a long tradition. The Grand Hôtel Wiesler is one of them. It has been here since 1909. But age is just a number. What matters is how you've spent those years. Since the Wiesler first opened its doors, we've never stopped looking for new things that make our guests as happy as they make us. Especially things for our 102 rooms. We choose objects that make you take a second look at the ideas we've come up with. Apropos our rooms, you'd hardly recognise them. We've completely revamped our rooms and suites. A slightly different luxury hotel.

By the way: You may not recognize them anymore. Because we have given a face lift to both rooms and suites – aka renovated them.

BELIEVE IN THE MAGIC OF CHANGE

The rooms of the Boutique-Design hotel now feature hand-painted Talavera sinks from Mexico, free-standing bath tubs, guitars and typewriters – making the Wiesler a hotel that not only has the perfect comfy beds, but is also full of inspiration.

We've made it to the future but we know that our past is what makes the Wiesler what it is today. A Business hotel full of history just waiting to be discovered. And of course a place where you get a good night's sleep.

Perhaps that was the vision of Carl Wiesler, when he bought five guest houses in 1870 and combined them into the hotel we know today. We're sure about one thing: our rooms have experienced a lot. After a rough patch as a hotel for British officers from 1945 to 1954, the Wiesler was given its first contemporary facelift in 1986.

9 January 1992: KLAUS MARIA BRANDAUER

After a sold out evening at the Graz Opera in front of an enthusiastic audience, Mr Brandauer departed Graz from the Wiesler.

Austrian astronauts Franz Viehböck and Clemens Lothaller wished the Wiesler "cosmic greetings".

The 15th of March seems to be a favourite date in history. Czechoslovak ambassador to Austria Magdaléna Vášáryová happened to sleep in one of our beds then, too.

25 MAY 1991: WILLY BRANDT

He won the Nobel Prize for Peace in 1971 for his Ostpolitik aimed at improving relations with the East.

MISS MOSCOW 1988

Maria (Masha) Kalinina was crowned the first Miss Moscow at just 16 years old in 1988 – which also happened to be the Soviet Union's first beauty pageant.

26 JUNE 1995: DALAI LAMA

While the United States was celebrating the 125th anniversary of Christmas becoming a public holiday, Tenzin Gyatso, the Dalai Lama, left one of the most touching entries in our guest book …

JUNE 1992: HERBERT GRÖNEMEYER

Shortly before staying with us, he set an audience record for a German-speaking artist, performing before a crowd of 100,000.

1 TO 4 JULY 1991: BILLY IDOL

The 20th anniversary of Jim Morrison's death attracted more devotees than usual to Père Lachaise Cemetery. And Billy Idol was spending the night at the Wiesler.

He's said to have had a love of irregular time signatures, and an odd number made him famous. Take five. That's all we have to say.

JULY 1993: JOE ZAWINUL

He fell in love with jazz at 12, then the whole world, and then the Wiesler.

1 AUGUST 1988: MARIA SHRIVER, EUNICE KENNEDY SHRIVER

Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was starring as a Russian detective beside James Belushi in Red Heat, checked out of the Wiesler with his wife, Maria Shriver, and mother in law, Kennedy Shriver.

After several number-one hits and a world tour, which took him all the way to Japan, Falco had earned a break in 1987. Part of that break was spent at the Wiesler.

21. BIS 23 NOVEMBER 2010: MAX RAABE

He pulled German classics from the 1920s and 30s out of the attic and dusted them off. And that's why he spent the night at the Wiesler when performing in Graz. Maybe it's because we're also so good at dusting.

PACO DE LUCIA

He got his first guitar at 5, went on his first world tour at 15, and made his international breakthrough with traditional flamenco sounds peppered with new elements at 26.
